The UAE will probably face a significant employment crisis soon in the region, with almost 70% of its workforce considering leaving their jobs. This act will severely leave a negative impact on the economy and businesses in the area. Now, the primary question here is why are professionals in the UAE considering resigning from their jobs all of a sudden?
Kavan Choksi is a leading finance and business specialist with invaluable experience in investment in the region. According to him, due to the coronavirus pandemic, several businesses tried to create strategies for adjusting to the “new normal.” However, in the process, some of these companies have failed to meet the expectations and the needs of their employees, resulting in dissatisfaction with their jobs. As per reports released by LinkedIn, it has been seen that almost 70% of employees in Saudi Arabia and the UAE are considering resignations from their jobs due to the absence of flexibility.
Modifications in company policies needed in the post-pandemic era
97% of recruiting managers in these regions have claimed modifications in their company policies to combat the effects of the Pandemic on their workforces. These rules have added more flexibility to employees because of the coronavirus. Despite their efforts, most of the professional network has noticed a massive exodus among employees in Saudi Arabia and the UAE workforce.
What do surveys say?
A majority of employees were interviewed during surveys, and they believed that the Pandemic had triggered the need for a change in corporate administration when it came to flexible working environments. However, over 50% of them claim their employers are yet to incorporate these new rules.
Need for greater flexibility and empowerment
The impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the workplace across the world has been dynamic. Research across the globe indicates an increased need for workplace empowerment and flexibility.
According to him and other experts in employment, the Pandemic has given the world a significant opportunity to reshape the employment environment. Managers and company owners have to place their employees in these changes as they hold the center stage when it comes to incorporating new policies that work for everyone.
The negative impact on UAE’s women workforce
At the same time, the coronavirus pandemic has affected women adversely. As per a LinkedIn survey and research, these changes for more flexibility in the workplace has adversely impacted the career of several women in the region. Approximately 20% of them had to resign from their jobs because of the absence of flexibility that hindered their career advancement. Again, 22% of women have reported that they are looking for jobs that would give them greater flexibility and robust working practices. There is about one-fifth of women polled believe a stigma still exists with flexible working hours in the region.
Kavan Choksi concludes by saying that women will be particularly affected with more flexibility. About 37% of them agree that more flexibility in the workplace will boost their mental health, whereas a third of this number believe they will flourish in these working conditions.
